Overview

Mount Elgon (4,321 m) is an extinct volcano on the border between Uganda and Kenya, and a good first big mountain for anyone new to hiking. Its collapsed crater covers more than 40 km at the summit, one of the largest known natural craters. This route takes the Sasa Trail, the shortest and most challenging way up, as a four day round trip.
