View itineraryMabamba Bay Swamp is a Ramsar site and Important Bird Area. The wetland hosts over 300 bird species, including many globally threatened species, 7 of Uganda's 12 Lake Victoria biome restricted species (notably the Papyrus Gonolek) and plenty of wetland specialities.
Mabamba Swamp lies west of Entebbe on the northern shore of Lake Victoria, with thick marshes of papyrus, water lilies and other wetland grasses. Birding here is done from a motorised wooden boat, riding through a maze of channels cut through the marsh. After finding the Shoebill, we continue to Nkima Forest for lunch and more birding, adding forest species to your water and field birding at Mabamba.
